In collaboration with the UMCG (de Vries, Nagengast) we work on the visualisation of cancer lesions using targeted fluorescent dyes. The dyes are functionalised to adhere preferentially to the cancerlesion so that the surgeon can be guided in the removal of suspicious tissue. Our part in this research revolves around the optimization of the fluorescence detection and the use of multi-spectral imaging to quickly identify regions of interest. To improve the sensitivity we will use a combination of pulses sources and pulses detection, spectral differentiation.
You need to have an affinity with medical oriented research, optics and technical development. This work will contain a strong experimental component.
